A Strange Dinner Previous Burn The Witch Next

Crying. I should be used to it by now, in this place, but I couldn’t help but notice that it sounded familiar. I realized then that I was the only one in the cell, my sister no where to be seen.

Screaming erupted from some rooms down from where I was standing. My sister said she needed to do something for… mother. I noticed her sanity stripping away from her ever since we were brought here.

Another scream erupted, this one now too familiar to ignore. In an instance, almost like instinct, I knew where the source was coming from.

“Mie.” I quietly whispered to myself.

I saw her being dragged across the flawless white steel floor and my mind went into a frenzy. Thoughts were shouting in my head, one telling me that this will happen, that there is nothing I could do, while the other tells me to act fast or else I’ll never see my sister again.

I made my decision and ran towards the opened door, ignoring the yelling and footsteps coming up from behind me. I ran as fast as I could towards the hallway and into the wide opening. My head swirled left of right until I saw my sister on the far left corner of a wall with two figures looming above her. They were saying things to her, things I assumed were ill intentions.

I ran towards her, the figures already aware of my presence, their emotionless eyes gazing down at me in disgust and hate, with a surprisingly wide grin plastered on their metal faces, contrasting in their cold stares. The ones chasing after me grabbed me harshly by the arms and pulled me further from my sobbing sister, but I fought against it. My eyes were locked on the only thing I cared about. It was then I noticed the collar attached to her neck, needles piercing into her flesh, tiny blood streams pouring down slightly from the wounds. Salty tears trailed down her face as her hands covered her eyes from the menacing aliens.

She was more helpless and scared than ever, and I couldn’t help but agree at the fact that if I didn’t save her now, it will be my fault if I never see her again. I called her name, my words of helplessness had fallen on deaf ears, only to be heard by the monsters that forced us into this life, but not my sister. The people holding me back dropped me to the floor. Without a second thought I sprang towards my sister, but was then met with a sharp pain blasted onto my side. I fell to the ground, defeated.

The one who zapped me walked towards my temporarily limp body.

“Leave us, she’s in my hands now.” a voice, male, called out to the others surrounding us. My vision started to blur as my mind turned fuzzy.

In the corner of my eye I saw the one holding my sister captive by the leash, a long string so thin it was barely visible which was made out of clear steel, unable to be broken, dragging her into another hallway. Her screaming in what could only be assumed as both pain and fear.  I would have gotten up if my limbs weren’t so numb. The figure looming over me bent down, his light golden eyes staring deep into me.

“Well, well,” he began to say,”now why would you disobey your orders to try and help a troublesome subject?” he said, his mouth turning into a mocking frown.

“Where are you taking my sister?!” I yelled at him, my throat felt scratchy as I did. I begun to get up until another shock interrupted my actions, coursing into my body. I crashed to the floor, again.

“It will be none of your concerns where we are taking her. You should know better than to ask questions that don’t concern you. Honestly, haven’t we taught you better than to make ridiculous actions such as the ones you have just made. Perhaps a lesson is in order.” he said, standing up from his crouched position, still gazing down at me as if I was something inferior to his own greatness.

“I’ll NEVER obey you!!” I shouted before he grabbed me by the collar so hard and fast I was afraid my head would snap right off. He then whispered in my ear softly, seemingly calm during this whole situation.

“We are your superior. You are to listen to what we say to do and when to do it. You know better than to talk back, seeming that it would be an unwise decision to go against us since the odds of you surviving would be highly unlikely. You have no say, you never had, and never will. This act will cause you serious consequences in your future. Do you understand?” he finished, waiting for my response.

The different sides of my mind were battling against each other for what to do. One telling me to obey and listen to him, since more punishment was not worth it, the other wanting to spit on his face and make a run for it, too caught up in its own pride and stubbornness to willingly submit.

“Y-… yes sir.” I finally choked out, feeling my body suddenly washed in fear and my confidence starting to wane. The sound of my own pathetic voice made me cringe in disappointment.

“Good girl.” he said, letting go of my collar and dropping me to the floor. “Then you know where you stand. Take her away, she has committed careless actions and I expect a punishment worth the troubles she has caused.” were the last words I heard before I felt the piercing sting of a needle injecting chemical fluids into my bloodstream.
